SOCIAL CHANGE STRATEGIES IN GENDER EQUALITY AND GENDER TRANSFORMATION
CAD recognizes that changing deeply held beliefs about gender roles, and gender relations requires comprehensive and multifaceted strategies. To effect sustained change and to promote effective partnerships, CAD uses the Spectrum of Change as a planning and programme tool. Our Spectrum of Change identifies 8 interlinking social change strategies that move beyond reliance on individual or small groups to promote change at the individual level but also in the social, civil, political and economic aspects of people’s lives. These strategies are mutually reinforcing and generate important synergies. They are used to promote multi-sectoral approaches that bring together communities’ activists with varied skills and connections.
Networking and coalition work nationally, in country and internationally.
Capacity building and trainings within communities
Communications over radio for social change
Community education
Individual skills building
Partnering with government at national, sub national and grass root levels to promote policy development and effective implementation.
Research, monitoring and evaluation
Advocacy, activism and community mobilisation.
